It is absolutely infuriating that a public school, funded by taxpayers and the federal government, has the audacity to trample on students’ First Amendment rights. The Constitution is clear: free speech must be protected, even when it challenges the status quo or makes some uncomfortable. This principal’s tyrannical decision to disband a student group simply because of its conservative affiliation shows a complete disregard for the very foundations of American democracy. What gives this principal the right to decide which political views are acceptable?
This school is funded by our tax dollars, which means it has a duty to respect the constitutional rights of every student, no matter their political leanings. The government cannot pick and choose which speech to allow, and public schools are no different.
