NPR has a story that I will link below this post talking about how the Catholic school in Pittsburgh coming up with its own trained police forces in the schools. That’s a good thing, I say. We need to make schools in not soft targets like the Democrats politicians and the gun control groups would have you believe. We need to make them harder for the criminals and deranged from going after children, the most vulnerable in any type of violent situation. Read more below.

Instead they want to push their political agendas and disarm the law abiding to make the United States like more places that has a big murder problem still with their gun control. See all Democrat style gun control like I said a high murder rates. I’m speaking to Democrat politicians and the gun control groups. You would think the United States would be in the top 10 with all the firearm freedoms we have in the United States. But sorry to tell you we are not the top 10. I will produce link under post for proof.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/murder-rate-by-country
I will now quote what they say at World Population Review’s page of the factors that contribute to lower murder rates that will just blow the lid off the gun control mind, so to speak. Here I go: “Factors known to contribute to lower murder rates and decreased crime overall include the wealth of a nation, the effectiveness of its law enforcement, the availability of weapons (especially firearms), and the severity of punishment for committing murder.” Did you hear that folks? Weapons and particularly firearms and being tough on criminals lower murder rates, who would’ve thought (being sarcastic)? Quote used was taken from this link:
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/murder-rate-by-country
In the year of 2022 the United States ranked in a 6.383 per 100,000 people and it ranked 57 out of 204 countries. But we are still safer than most of the harshest gun control countries. Of course it’s saying that in Wikipedia but you might want to double check. Have that link right below.

Let’s compare some place in the United States compared to state by state per 100,000 people. Maine had the lowest of all 50 states with 1.7 per 100,000 people in 2023. No permit for guns were required and still not required even for concealed carry. No background checks were required but then change later to run background checks for privately selling your guns in Maine. Even though they still had the lowest murder rate than all 50 states. They did not stigmatize someone who voluntarily would want to seek mental health care it looks like
In 2023, Maine had relatively permissive gun laws compared to many other states. Here are some key points:
General Provisions
- No Permit Required: Maine did not require a permit to purchase or possess rifles, shotguns, or handguns¹.
- Concealed Carry: No permit was necessary to carry a concealed handgun if the person was at least 21 years old, or between 18 and 21 and on active duty in the Armed Forces or the National Guard, or was an honorably discharged veteran¹.
Background Checks
- Private Sales: Background checks were not required for private sales of firearms⁵.
Yellow Flag Law
- Gun Confiscation: The “yellow flag” law allowed law enforcement to temporarily confiscate firearms from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others².
Age Restrictions
- Handgun Purchases: No one under the age of 18 was allowed to purchase a handgun⁴.
- Other Firearms: It was illegal to sell a firearm other than a handgun to a minor younger than age 16, with some exceptions such as parental consent or active duty military service⁴.
Recent Changes
- Post-Lewiston Shooting: Following the Lewiston mass shooting in October 2023, there were discussions and legislative efforts to expand background checks and tweak the yellow flag law²³.

The highest ranked state was Mississippi 23.7 out of 100,000 people in 2023. Why such a high murder rate in Mississippi? It’s said that the highest murder rate was in Jackson, Mississippi even the population was not as high. A factor it looks to why there are high murder rates are the lack of police and consent decrees with how many people can be put in the jails. To me that’s an excuse. Also the mayor happens to be guess what? A Democrat. Typical far left leaning Democrat named Chokwe Antar Lumumba. Notice how in all the Democrat cities that have jail reforms it always has a high murder rate.
Former Police Chief Robert Johnson said he used community policing and also had more police when he was police chief. He gave some ways that they can reduce crime, but will the leader listen. Please read the story below.
